Travelling is a huge part of what we do and we love it. Many photographers are inquisitive by nature, we LIVE to see and experience new things! This profession attracts people who can’t sit still, who crave new acquaintances and connections, who love adventure and reaching into the world to witness and share life in it’s many facets.
Professional photographers often travel to fulfil assignments for clients like tourism boards and magazines, which need compelling images of specific destinations. We often work with Visit Cheshire, The Cheshire Magazine, Transport for Wales and we love the fact that it takes us to great locations and we get to share it with others through our imagery. It’s lovely to think that someone would see our images and choose to have an adventure based on the photos we took.
Let’s talk about some of the reasons we love to travel for our work.
- Whilst wanderlust is usually part of our nature, it’s never without some bigger purpose and everything we do goes into our mind “bank” of information and inspiration.
- Traveling to new locations offers photographers fresh perspectives and a broadened imagination, which is essential for creative work. New places present diverse subjects, from people and cultures to landscapes and architecture.
- We often discover great shoot locations while travelling, we might be on our way to a shoot in a town we’ve never been to and pass a building that looks interesting or a natural landscape that could be an amazing backdrop to a future shoot. In the mind bank it goes. Until one day a shoot comes in and calls for that location.
By actively searching for the best locations, photographers discover unique spots and share their experiences with followers, turning even a routine commute into a purposeful activity. Landscape, travel, and commercial photographers travel to specific places to capture images of nature, cities, or products in their ideal environments.
Sometimes we may have to commute between different clients on the same day, especially in large cities where multiple jobs might be spread out. The change in light and emerging scenes during commutes can spark artistic inspiration, helping photographers capture beauty in everyday moments that would otherwise be overlooked.
Travel can be tiring, don’t get us wrong!
We are not saying it’s easy to do this every day, but at the same time it gives us an endless well of discovery and inspiration that we constantly tap into, which makes us grow and become better at what we do.
